Obligatory 2010 Goals Blog

Thursday, December 31, 2009

Last year, I made all of two resolutions: "Don't eat mammals" and "Work out twice a week." I met the first with flying colors, and the second...I think I can count that as a win, don't you?

This year, I'm expecting a lot more from myself. Hence, I have a lot more goals.

1. Start practicing my violin again, at least twice a week.

2. Keep my living space clean. There's no motivation in a messy room.

3. Try (at least once) kayaking, kickboxing, zumba, and pilates.

4. Run a 5k by March.

5. Run the Vineyard Run for Literacy 5k in October with a time of less than 30 minutes.

6. Hit 3000 fitness minutes every month.

7. Get at least one book published, write at least two more.

8. Lose the last 78lbs

9. Get the people around me to stop confusing "loose" and "lose," stop saying "PIN number," and stop saying "nauseous" when they mean "nauseated." (It's a personal pet peeve).

10. Join a hiking/biking/running group by summer--and keep up with them!

11. Buy my first bikini ever. Oh, and wear it.

12. Keep up my yoga practice at least 3x a week.

I know, it's a lot of goals, but I like having goals! Every week I hit all of them (all the ones I can measure per week), I'll put a dollar in a "resolution jar," so that maybe I'll actually be able to buy myself some of my rewards.

I had a goal for trying Zumba by my birthday this year, and hit it early!! :) It is fun!! :)

I want to start playing the piano again! :) I read something in an article about playing an instrument can help with weight loss (yay, I spelled it right!)

I also have a goal to walk (or run) a 5K I probably should put a date on it! Thanks for setting the example!! :)

I like the dollar in the jar idea too!! :)

#3--- zumba. you actually have to give it 3 chances. the footwork gets a little tricky at first, and its not fair to give in only one try! 3 is the minimum! :-)

Great goals! You can start by enlightening me. I think I used nauseous when I should have said nauseated in my last blog... SORRY! Look at it and correct me :)

I have my own pet peeves with the way people speak and write as well... It's not supposebly people.

Can I add to #9? Get people to figure out the appropriate use of their, they're, and there!!!

Gah! hate that.

Awesome awesome goals!

I've got my bikini waiting for me - go get one and have it hanging in front of you as inspiration... and put pictures of the beaches or cruises you'll wear it on all around.

Good for you!! I like the violin one, I really should do that too. I think about it sometimes. It requires finding it and taking it home from my parents'...Whole-heartedly agree with loose vs. lose and PIN, both drive me nutty. Good luck, you're going to do a great job on those goals. By the way, I love Pilates. Someday I'll do that again too.

LMAO at your grammar pet peeves. "Loose" is so irritating, and "PIN" is one of mine too, though I still misuse nauseous a lot of the time.

These are great goals. You are going to tick them off one by one, I can feel it! I'm thinking about the PR I want to put for my 5K and I was tempted to put under 30 minutes but thought it was a little too much. Now I'm rethinking it. Maybe it's doable? Hopefully I'll be much slimmer next fall and a 10-minute mile won't seem so impossible!

We have about the same amount of weight to lose next year. I'm going for 70. Let's keep each other motivated! Though your hiking exploits always make me feel like I'm slacking!
