The Christmas Struggle is Over

Tuesday, December 29, 2009

I struggle with the holidays as I'm sure everyone else does. The baking, appetizers, egg nog, drinks the list just goes on. But I have to admit, I didn't cook nearly as much as I have in the past. I left out some items, that I just didn't have time to make. Such as the family sweet potato casserole that has some insane amount of butter in it. So today I was wondering if that was the little voice in head telling me, you don't need to make that its just not a good choice.

This morning as I was drinking my coffee a question came to mind, "How did you get here?" To be honest I think I need to sit down with this and think it out. I think this is what is holding me back. I grew up in an extremely healthy home. One of my fond memories was counting all the vitamins I had to take before school with my unsweetened grapefruit juice. Maybe that's where it started who knows? But I do know I will need to sit with this question, so I can move on to live a healthier life.

You're thinking in the right direction. THis is the perfect time for those thoughts. And who needs a sweet potatoe casserole anyway? Way to go for listening to the little voice. I'm sure everyone enjoyed all the other goodies anyway. Have a happy and healthy 2010!!!
