Ahhh, Y2K. Fear of massive computer meltdowns did not stop me from partying into the wee hours. My dad had gotten me and the guy I was dating $1500 CAD/couple tickets to a New Years gala held at the swankiest hotel in town where he (dad) worked.
What to wear? I brought 2 dresses with me..I tried to put the first one on and couldn't get it over my butt. No big deal! Let's wear the other one, in a bigger size!
In a way, I miss those days when everything was so free...I didn't worry about eating the wrong things, or how much..I just ate whatever and however much I wanted. I also didn't worry about what size I was or if I looked fat or lumpy in a certain outfit either..At that point in my life I had never set foot in a gym.
Of course, these days it is a common occurence for clothes not to fit me from one week to the next, but preggo body aside, I can never go back to the girl I was back in December 1999. Fit Patty wants to be able to wear anything she wants...and look good in it. She'd still enjoy the drinks and gourmet food at the gala...but get right back on track with eating at the next meal and of course maintain the exercise routine.
In December 1999, I was still 9 months away from starting my lifelong journey to health and fitness. Even at 29W4D preggo, I weigh less than I did when that picture was taken, although as you've probably noticed, I won't let a camera anywhere near me these days. Although I am truly devastated over the loss of my strength, speed, and cardio endurance...I am still far, FAR fitter and healthier than the Patty of 10 years ago.
As I wrote a few weeks ago, 2010 will be a year of tremendous change for me. I will learn to be a mom, while at the same time re-learning how to eat and exercise for fat loss, after years of maintenance. It will be a huge challenge and I am up for it!
