Christmas Cheer and a Happy New Year
Sunday, December 27, 2009
Hello all my friends,
We had a good Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. We "partied" at my twin sister's house. We ate ham (cooked by my sister), chicken (mine), and a deep-fried Boston butt (cooked by dad... he took home the leftovers after the meal). Needless to say, we had enough meat left for lunch and dinner on Christmas Day. We fed 17 on Christmas Eve and 9 on Christmas Day.
We got our girls hand-held Didj games. They are educational and can be hooked to the internet to download their spelling word lists. Some games even teach math which will be great for our older daughter who still takes a bit of time reciting her multiplication facts (too slow for those timed tests in school). They got a couple of Wii games, too.... several other things, of course, including school clothes.
DH and I agreed not to get each other gifts, but I got him a DVD of one of his favorite Science Fiction shows. I got him to get me a new set of pots and skillets that I saw on sale at Big Lots. They are the Farberware Breast Cancer PINK series. I hope that the "non-stick" coating actually stays on the pots and pans with these... AND I can go from stovetop to oven in the same pots and pans. DH bought himself a portable DVD player with his bonus from work... which he is calling a birthday present also. His b-day is the first week of January.
One more week and the kids will be back in school. I hope to be able to get more sub jobs than I have in the last month, though I want it to be for teachers wanting personal days... definitely not sick days.
I hope you all have a good holiday season and a wonderful new year.
