Trying to keep on track with the running program that I have begun a few weeks ago, has pushed me more than I expected. I guess I had become comfortable with my 6-8 mile runs five to six days a week. Now I have shortened my week day runs, so that I can be ready for a long run on the weekend.
Staying steady with the program has required me to run at times that are not all that comfortable. This morning's run in the dark was particularly challenging because of the temperature outside and the possibility of ice on the roads where I run. Fortunately, the roads were basically dry and the only spots where ice might have been were clearly visible.
Also, running in the dark does wonders for a person's prayer life. What I am learning to enjoy most about the long runs is the time that I am able to spend in prayer.
What do you do to keep yourself focused when you are doing things that make you a little uneasy?
