1. Eat lots of vegetables and fruit.

PS: I think what is meant by upgrading your carbs, is to eat more "complex carbs" ... if you notice "Fruits/Veggies and Whole grains" are in the "eat more" area... where the "Refined carbs.. i.e., simple sugars are at the top of the pyramid in the "use sparingly section"....

Overall I like this pyramid for me, a "lower/good carb" program... ~ Dee ~

FIRNUT34... I skip the chocolate part too, not that I don't like it, but because I have a ferocious sweet tooth and I will just crave more of it! emoticon

MORTICIAADDAMS... I added to the blog above, but I think that "upgrading carbs" would mean, if you are not eating good carbs, like more complex carbs... then an upgrade would be to eat/include more of them in your diet... This is the only thing that I can think of that makes any sense...

    Wow, this is really interesting! Like FIRENUT34, I'm not a fan of dark chocolate and drink alcohol only a small handful of time each year. I love that the pyramid is 3-D and lists water on the side. In my opinion, daily exercise should also include stretching.

    Its pretty good. I skip one section as I stay away from chocolate as I like milk chocolate and hate dark chocolate so I just stay away from it. I really don't drink alcohol and usually am the designated driver.

    I like this Pyramid, has all the healthy things your body needs but also allows for alittle alcohol and chocolate. I like to have both of those in moderation. Also includes Exercise and weight awareness, something we are all here striving for.

    I agree with some of the recommendations. Eating lots of certain fruits and veggies - I would avoid the high glycemic as they spike blood sugar. I'm not sure what upgrading my carbs mean. I would stick to the fruits and veggies and occasionally some beans and even less often some whole grains. Healthy proteins, good fats, hydration, multivitamin, moving, and eating mindfully - all yes. Alcohol - no.

    I am moving! So far we have 18 inches of snow or more. After shoveling several times today and then taking a nap, we awoke and couldn't get the front door opened and it is still coming down!
