Great weekend but paying for it

Saturday, December 19, 2009

Friday night - went downtown to our "Miracle on Main Street" when the stores stay open late, streets are pedestrian only, music groups are on every corner, and the park is set up with food booths - one big street party. We chatted with friends, listened to music, I got a shrimp roti but only ate half (yay for that!), and I ran into tons of students who all gave me hugs (a big surprise) - it was great fun! Walked, walked, walked, finished the day with over 4 miles on the pedometer.

Saturday morning - brunch with DH, and then a pedicure. Then DH and I went up to synagogue, and a group of us wrapped probably close to 200 gifts we bought for the children at the women's shelter and the foster kids with the Dept of Human Services. I spent 3 hours wrapping while DH made out tags and taped on candy canes.

By 3 hours, my neck and upper back were complaining, so I came home and iced them - still stiff, still sore, but still feeling happy with the day.

DH went out and got some dinner for us, we ate while watching a Beatles retrospective - this car accident leftover stuff is impacting both of us. But, well, it was still a good beginning to the weekend.

What can I say: you totally get this "engagement" thing!! And write about it with a complete matter-of-fact absence of self-righteousness!!

    Love it.
