A hellacious first day back at work...

OMG! Today was just one issue after another. We were being hit left & right with problems, issues and attitudes. I work at hospital about 45 minutes away. I schedule OB inductions & c/sections and GYN surgeries. I'm normally off on Wednesdays & the weekends but w/DD being sick, I switched today for yesterday. And that proved to be a big mistake.

I did manage to get about a 15 minute walk in today. Yes, I made some bad choices-sweets were calling me. We also had a catered Christmas lunch courtesy of one of the practices. I had lasagna-but I ate my salad first. In retrospect, I realize my eyes were bigger than my stomach. But I learned I need to be doing a better job of watching my portions. I did wait to eat my dessert as I realized I was full. That was a plus. I also had lots of water to drink today which is always good. I've always loved my water though. I've just gotten out of habit of consuming lots in a day.

I guess what I'm trying to say is it's all about small changes. I'm definitely not at 100% but I'm definitely in a better mindset than I was a few days ago.

    Okay, I don't feel so bad telling you I had peanut brittle today, seeing that you had sweets and dessert. My giving into sweets didn't give you permission did it?

So was today, Thursday better for you? Get your water in?

If you are back at work then your daughter must be feeling better.

You are right, we CAN do this and we will! Better tomorrow than today, or yesterday as the case may be.

    You're doing great! The fact that you stayed mindful of your health plan on a crazy day is a HUGE step towards good health and weight loss.

    You may not have been perfect, but you did better because you were being mindful. You've learned how to eat more normally and that is a BIG plus!

    Eating your salad first was the best thing you could have done for yourself. When you eat something raw 1st if sets your digestive juices going and it actually helps your body push the fats through without total absorption into your body and thus ending up on your thighs. It was a good thing to do. Kudos for passing on the dessert. I'd say you did not do to bad, in fact I would say you did well. Wouldn't the "old" Simone just have said oh what the heck this is a special luncheon rewarding us for our hard work so I deserve this and I am going to eat whatever I want. emoticon emoticon

    So sorry you had such a bad day. I haven't had a chance to call posting this week so until I just caught up here and read your blogs I didn't even know you were out! Heath did come by today and bring me my little red bag from the luncheon we missed once again. Thanks to you all :-) Yea for your walk today! and great that one of the offices catered a lunch for you all....you did realized you were full and stopped. Talk to you soon.

    recognizing and realizing............ that's the tough part, but you got that down, Water sure helps me, although I don't love it, I do get it in daily and then some. I'm glad to hear you are doing better! Hugs, we're here for ya.
