when I got the music I got a place to go

okay- nobody but punk fans will get that title

Today was my LAST day of c25k!!!! And it was my toughest day yet. here's why- I think I over did it this week. In an effort to balance the extra calories form all the baking (or I should say tasting while baking) I've upped my cardio slightly this week from about 30 minutes a day to around 45 a day. Okay- maybe not so smart on race week.
Saturday I did c25k W8D1- but on my crappy little treadmill at home that doesn't let you go with no incline... so a whole 3 miles uphill.
Sunday- rest.
Monday c25k W8D2 at the gym so no incline ... yep feels better plus 20 minutes on elliptical.
Tuesday- 20 minutes on elliptical, feeling really good so i decided to walk on the treadmill. Why did I decide to put it all the way as high as the incline would go? I don't know- I guess i thought I'm only walking so no problem... did that for 25 minutes.
Today- woke up SORE! Ya- from all the recent work outs with incline- but I still wanted to do my last run before the race so c25k W8D3- on the treadmill at home... that's right on an incline! oof it was tough... and about 10 minutes into it I almost gave up. I was even doing the talk yourself out of it in my head "I've done good- I can skip this one last run- I did so much cardio this week it's no big deal- this treadmill is too small- my house is too hot- this incline makes my butt hurt- I could just slow down and walk for 30 minutes- blah blah blah"
But then I thought "how will I ever know what I'm made of if I never push myself?"
So I turned up my mp3 to ridiculously loud- which happened to be on one of my favorite running songs, Radio by Rancid (hence the blog title)- and kept running.

So now I have 2 rest days before the race. I may do a little cardio tomorrow- something easy like stationary bike or something- but you can bet I won't be doing anything with an incline! And I think friday I'll make a real rest day and do no cardio no strength.

EEEK! I'm getting excited! Just a couple more days till race day!!! Man- I hope this ice melts!

I've been scarce the last week or so, but I started singing Radio out loud when I read the title. Great song to run to! I see you did well on your 5K! Amazing job!!!

Yeah for finishing the Ct5k program! Proud of you! Even prouder that you added so much.. Yep.. the 2 days of rest will be good for you, and you will be itching to run by Saturday.. (that is if you don't live on the east coast, and get hit by this snow....)

If you do most of your running on the treadmill, you'll find it easier when you get to the road if you are used to a slight incline. Running with the treadmill 'flat' is like a slight downhill when you compare to the road.. So... Having done lots of you final couple of weeks at home, with an incline will have made it easier for you on race day.

Hi Missy-you know SORE is what they make Advil for. It wouldn't hurt.

My sil is on graveyard this week. My dd told me to go ahead into the house and workout-do whatever you want. Oh, ya, right. I've been putting the treadmill up to 15% and going 4.5 mph. Burns lots of calories, but don't think it's quiet enough for him to sleep. I can imagine it shakes the whole house. Earplugs aren't going to help that ;D

I open the door and call the dogs outside for a doggie fix, put them back in and go my way.

I'm thinking of an mp3 player. My dvd player skips and the music for my walkman is pretty old (good music though). I don't know how to download music. What site did you find 'Radio by Rancid'?

Your timing will be just right. 2 days off and you should be antsy to run.

My friend and I did our Christmas stuff yesterday. It was a fun day. We did 5 recipes and only one was one we'd done before. It's kind of fun to make different things. We'll have another baking/cooking day before Christmas. Her husband is going to smoke salmon for me. It makes wonderful gifts for diabetics and anyone else that you don't know what to buy for. His is supurb, best that I've tasted.

You and Luisa will do great for the run and I'll pray for clear, dry surface to run on.

You'll do great, we're all proud of you.

WOW GIRL! :D Take it EASY the next two days and rest up for your race. ROCK ON with working that incline! :D You know S318830 does incline walking to stay in shape for her running and only runs like... once or twice a week, but still goes out and does races and whatnot. Kinda interesting -- but definitely points to the fact that walking on an extreme incline DEFINITELY works you out! :D hehehe.
