We had the Sisterhood Chanukah party last night - 21 women, ages 19 to 60+, gathered together talking, eating, singing, and playing a bizarre gift exchange game (hard to explain the rules, you get a number and go in numeric sequence, you can take someone's gift away from them and give them one that you pick and unwrap - chaotic).
Anyhow - I made more latkes at home, and ate 4 before I went to the party - but I made them small, and drained them really well. Added no sugar applesauce and Greek yogurt. YUM! So at the party, I only ate salad! No one noticed, I was happy, and I was only about 80 cals over my max - wooohooooo! (And the scale stayed the same this morning.)
I'll admit I cheat at the gift game - I pick my own present, LOL! I brought 3 small oil lamps, almost spherical blown glass in clear and white swirls - and of course, it was one of those gifts that everyone liked, and it was immediately taken away. However, I received (and kept) one of those spa aromatic things - the pretty bottle of oil, with the reeds that help get the oil out into the air, or something - I was thinking that I'd like one, to make our bathroom more spa-like, relaxing, tranquil. So I was very happy to keep that. (Pumpkin spice - nice, but next time I'll refill it with lavendar or vanilla oil.)
So the holidays continue!
