This is the week for Christmas parties - I blew it at the first on Sunay and felt lousy yesterday. At party #2 last night, I had a great dinner followed by one-half of a slice of pumpkin/apple pie. I also made a conscious thing to drink my water earlier in the day than I had on Sunday. Although I went slightly over on calories (258 over as opposed to Sunday when I was WAY over) most of the calories were from higher nutrient foods. I had a second serving of a wonderful salad (greens, red onions, mandarin oranges, and slivered almonds) instead of hitting the dessert table first. As a result, this morning I'm feeling much more energetic (got my workout done already). The best thing to come out of this is that, since I can directly relate feeling lousy to eating too much sugar, it helps keep me motivated to stay away from the stuff. I have four more parties during the next 3 days - as long as I can keep this in mind I will lose weight this holiday season.
Mid-afternoon update - made it through another party safely. Only 3 to go. Tomorrow evening we will be having desserts and other goodies at our choir director's house after a short choir practice. I made stuffed mushrooms for our luncheon today and she has requested some for tomorrow as well for those of us trying to stay away from the sweets. Maybe I'll get one or two tomorrow as they were all gone before I got there today.
