aerobic strength training - check!

so, i followed through on a promise i made to myself and all of you, my wonderful sparkfriends...i went to my first aerobic strength training class last night with my pal gypsy. we both wanted to punk out on it at different times, but we both decided it would be better to go than not to go, so we sucked it up, stopped being whiny little babies and braved the elements to the rec center.
we got there super early because we were dropping in and didn't want the class to fill up before we got there. i toured the rec center with gypsy (she's a member) and chilled for a bit before the class started. we got to talk to the instructor while we were waiting, and she was super nice. definitely a good start.
we got into class (which started late because the class before got out late - something that the instructor says happens every week...how rude) and started right away with a step and music that would have been right at home at your local gay discotheque. (and i'm not sure if you know, but i'm magic at a gay dance club...so need less to say, i felt pretty good about it.) we did a good 20 minutes of ridiculous step aerobics, and it definitely got my heart rate up! i felt pretty coordinated, so that was good...my fear is always being the dolt in the back of the class who has no idea what's going on. that was not the case...i actually felt like i was one of the more coordinated in the class - i do a MEAN grapevine...and she used those liberally.
after the step business, we moved onto a lot of core work using a stability ball - she KILLED our abs! but i liked it...it's been a while since i worked any of those muscles, so i knew soreness would be my friend today...i wasn't wrong! it felt nice to get a good workout in, change it up, and work out with a friend. we're planning on going to the last class of the session next week, then signing up for the class when it starts again in january. motivation is back, friends...and i'm riding this wave to the shore!
