For those about to hit the PANIC BUTTON...

...this blog is for YOU!

I'm a fan of the "Panic Button," where I can help others feel/do good and yet seek support in return. Probably the most common topic I come across is:

"I've been eating healthy & exercising for over a month, and I've GAINED (or have not lost anything)!"

I thought about that common topic the past month as I found myself facing the same issue. I started working with a personal trainer about a month ago. This trainer is extremely certified, has a masters degree in Health and Fitness, coaches football, basketball and baseball from elementary to college level, and is a Registered Dietitian (yes, $$$). After working out 3 times a week for 4 weeks (and I working out 3 other days each week), we updated my measurements today. YES, I GAINED weight (2.5 pounds), and NO my fat % did NOT go down. HOWEVER, I lost 2 inches in my waist and an inch in my arm. I gained a half inch in my calf and thighs. My point is that the body has to ADJUST! After discussing this with my trainer, I saw a "light bulb" go off in my head....I get it! Not every part of the body gains/loses at the same time. Things change, and move in gradual waves toward their ultimate goal. If it took me 4 years to gain the unwanted weight, then I know I'll need more than a month to lose the weight. Until that "dream goal" is reached, I plan on finding the best in myself on a DAILY basis in my workouts, eating habits, and attitude.

SP_COACH NANCY always tells us to "trust the process," which is so very true. I'm passing that message forward and adding to those who feel like giving up: Remember to believe in YOURSELF, find courage in YOURSELF, and you will find the best in YOU.

Why is the Panic Button so attractive, I live on it too!

I did go to WW mtg tonight and gained 0.4# I was too bummed to stay. I drove to Walmart and watched all the people of many sizes buy and eat lots of junk food.

I bought a couple of apples and lettuce. I felt pretty good. I'm into something bigger then junk food. I'm into a better life. This is going to take awhile. If it takes the rest of my life, what a great way to spend it: living deliberately.

So thanks for these words, they helped me tonight.
