So today's new workout was with Jillian and the cast.
The DVD has on it...
A warm up (5 min)
Last Chance Workout (25 min)
Upper body sculpt (10 min)
Lower body sculpt (10 min)
Cool down (5 min)
When you go into the menu to choose your workout you can follow the program or pick and choose what you want. I decided to try the program to see what it suggested. From weeks 1-2 you do Last Chance workout MWF and Upper body and lower body scuplt Tue Thu and Sat, rest on Sunday. I'm not sure if I will do the actual program but for today I followed Mondays.
Holy moly that was a work out! I knew going in it would but still was surprised. Like Jillian's other DVD's that I have seen she does circuits of cardio and then weights. I think there were 5 circuits and man they kicked my butt. My arms were burning and shaking, I know I am going to feel that come tomorrow. This is exactly what I was looking for. I needed something to up the intensity and this sure did it for me. There were a few parts I had to rest or go to lighter weights because it was so intense or I was going at it a little too hard for me.
Now one criticism I have heard about these is the contestant don't go in sync with each other and can be distracting. For me that has never been an issue because I just go at my own pace or find one of them to follow (in this case Tara or Amanda). But this one is the same way, they are often not in rhythm at all. But for me that wasn't a big deal. The moves were easy and it didn't take much to learn what they were doing and then go at your own pace (vs Denise Austin's that I did yesterday...see that blog)
This one I burned 334 calories in under 40 min, so I thought that was pretty good. My average heart rate was higher then in my normal workouts (150 vs 125-130). So all in all I would say this one is a keeper. Definitely has earned its spot in my routine.
