i have obviously not been so active on spark lately. school is getting to crunch time with the semester ending, and of course thanksgiving and traveling didn't help anything! i haven't been working out hardcore, and i've been eating sort of crappy...i haven't even been weighing in regularly, but as best as i can tell, i've been fluctuating right around 218-220...so i'm not gaining a ton of weight - whew! i'm having a rough go of it, with a real lack of motivation and energy...this cold weather isn't doing anything for me in the running department either!

with all of these "excuses" though, i'm still optimistic...i'm just not going to focus on blowing it out of the water during the holiday season and lose a ton of weight. it's just not my focus right now, and that's okay. i am, however, going to try to focus on getting more active - taking classes, getting to the gym, and doing some outdoor running when possible. i bought some cold weather gear, and i'm planning on getting some more!

through all of this, some good things have happened. first of all, i got to meet three wonderful sparkladies, AWESOMES, STINA6584 and EGGINABOWL, in chicago to run the santa shuffle, a 5K in santa hats and beards! it was SUPER fun, and tara's (EGGINABOWL) first 5K...beautiful weather (albeit a wee bit nippy) and a beautiful setting, around the lakeshore and lincoln park zoo. it was literally one of the most enjoyable and relaxing runs i've EVER had!

also, i made a commitment to go to an aerobic strength training class with my friend gypsy tomorrow. i'm excited to try something different, as i haven't taken any classes since starting this journey. also, i'm excited to get some strength training in, as it's been a looooooooong time since i've done it. i'm hoping that this is the kick in the butt i've needed to get me back to being active again!

on the horizon - i'm going to talk to a *free* trainer at my gym to set up a program for strength training. i'm also going to check out a spinning class at this cute little boutique gym near my apartment...and half marathon training starts in earnest when everything starts to thaw!

i'm not going to kill myself, but i want to make sure that i'm taking care of myself this month. i'm going to have a happy, relaxing and healthy holiday, and 2010 betta watch out!

    You sound like the most motivated, active 'slacker' I know. It's ok to change your focus for a while as long as you are still stay conscious of your goals and have a plan! Sounds like you defintiely do. Congrats on the new classes, strength training and plans for a half marathon in 2010!

    I make a lot of cookies and give them away to family, friends, neighbors, etc... by the time I have any left for me, I'm too sick of cookies to eat them... but the dang cheese ball does me in every year!

    You sound like me these days! Just too much going on! Glad to see you back, though and I think classes are a great way to get you motivated again. I'm loving my spinning class for that reason!
