New recipe applications available for iPhone and Blackberry!

Hi everyone

We are pleased to announce the launch of 2 new smartphone applications. They both bring the best of SparkRecipes.com to your phone, letting you search or browse the almost 200,000 recipes on the site. You can also do things like save your favorites, so that you can always find a healthy recipe whenever you have your phone.

Our iPhone application can be downloaded from iTunes by searching for "sparkrecipes" or by using the link below:
itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=341637587&mt=8

Our Blackberry application is available at Blackberry App World by searing for "sparkrecipes" or by using the link below:
appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/content/3794

Also note that we are currently developing a full food and diet tracker for Blackberry, plus are doing more development for Google Android phones. If you have another type of smartphone we encourage you to try mobile.sparkpeople.com on your phone's browser.

If you like the iPhone application we ask that you leave us a positive review on iTunes, this will help Spread the Spark by helping more members find SparkPeople. Also if you don't have an iPhone (or iPod Touch) or Blackberry but have friends with a device, please let them know this is now available.

Thanks!

Dave H.

I would love a full app for the Android that uses the barcode scanner technology to input calorie counts as well as GPS-enabled exercise tracking functionality. There are apps that do these things already (Calorie Counter, CardioTraning), but I'd rather be able to do it all with the Spark.

I sure wish that it also had a recipe calculator on it, I hate lugging my laptop into the kitchen when I'm making things with what I have on hand that needs to get used.

I know meal plan, meal plan, but I plan my dinner meals with the basic idea that if there are leftovers my roommate goes for seconds and usually that leaves me with one serving left for lunch the next day. Sometimes, I make too much or bought too much of this or that and need to get it used up so I use the recipe calculator as I cook so I know I'm being accurate in tracking my meals.

Thanks for developing apps for the blackberry. It is so useful to be able to use most of the features and not have to sit in front of a computer to keep up with the program. WHen we look up recipes we are sometimes on the road - going to or from work or to and from workout. emoticon

I love love the mobile sparkpeople, what fantastic news! There's only one little item that would make it absolutely perfect and that would be if there were an Sparkpeople Icon for the blackberry, that way I wouldnt have to type in sparkepeople on the tinyglobe, I would just have to click on the Icon and there it is!

But, I am still extremely happy , it is mobile accessible!

Thank You for the great news emoticon

This time of year it is encouraging to see the motivating stories on SparkPeople. I hope that I, too, will be able to motivate someone. Weight loss is a struggle for some of us, but hopefully keeping this daily account will help us live in moderation that is half the battle. Happy Holidays.
