Not going to make it the first time

Tuesday, December 01, 2009

Well, there's no way for this arthritic body to lose 22 pounds before the 31st, so I am not going to make my goal the first time around. However - having said that - I have already lost 20 pounds! So I will continue to lose what I can this year and add a little more to next year's goal.

This year the goal was to get to 199. Next year the goal is 175. We'll see what I weigh on January 1st, but today it was 222.2. Not bad for someone who has rheumatoid arthritis, severe fibromyalgia, and a whole laundry list of other problems, including diabetes, high blood pressure, and more. I have managed to back WAY off on the amount of Pepsi I drink each day and will continue it through the new year. The hardest part is getting others to honor my journey. "Oh, just one isn't going to ruin you!" is only one of the cries I've had to counter.

How do you handle situations like that?

You have done a great job with having to deal with all the health problems. The FMS alone makes things difficult so even being able to get weight off and keep it off is an accomplishment. One we really need to be proud of. Do your best as you can.

Little do they know!!! You know your body and how it reacts.

Self defence is needed. You might try "no thanks"; "I'm not hungry just now"; "I'm still stuffed from lunch"; "A glass of water would be wonderful"; "it looks delicious but Dr's orders".

You have done really well. I know you will succeed. Stick to your guns. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
