Are you in your PRIME?

I decided that what I need is some kind of personal mantra or acronym to focus on daily, to remind me of how I will reach my fitness goals. If you have one or come up with a different one please share it with me and my Spark Friends! Mine is PRIME. I am going to turn 52 in a month and never did reach my goal of being 50, fit, and fabulous. So I have decided that I need to instead focus on being in my PRIME at whatever age I am at. So now in the morning when I wake up I ask myself, "Waterbridge - are you in your prime?!" And I have to answer, NO! So here is my acronym and what the letters mean for me and how I am using them to focus on my goals. I repeat this mantra/question throughout the day and then at the end of the day review whether I have made any progress to reaching my PRIME.
P= POSTPONE (if there is something I want to eat that is high calorie, low nutrition, or I could live without for now... I try to postpone it. For example, there is a bottle of red wine in the fridge. I opened it a week ago but have just had my second glass from it as my husband poured me one when he made dinner last night. Somehow telling yourself that you can have a special treat, later, takes the edge off. If I just delay treats it helps to counteract impulsive and emotional eating. There are foods I crave but if I tell myself to hold off a bit, sometimes the craving goes away and I skip it.)
R= REDUCE (when I take a portion of a food I am planning to eat I take a second look at it and ask myself if I could be satisfied with a smaller portion, then reduce it. Or I tell myself that if I eat the smaller portion and I am still really hungry I can get more later or find something else to satisfy me that is a good healthy selection.)
I - IMPROVE (last night I went to the movies. My husband and I usually share a large popcorn with buttery topping half way and on top. I asked him to get no topping this time and we still enjoyed our popcorn, which I had with a diet Coke. I actually realized that the popcorn tasted better!)
ME = MAXIMIZE EXERCISE/ME (No matter how careful I am about what I eat the reality is that I am never going to meet my fitness goals unless I make a real commitment to exercise. I have to fit exercise into my schedule and make it a priority. I need to stop putting work and other sedentary duties first and block time out of my schedule to do my walking/jogging, WiiFit, and anything else that will increase my strength and cardio fitness. ME also stands for ME, in that making time for me and maximizing exercise is more than okay, it is critical.
