My Thanksgiving day to come

Friday, November 20, 2009

I have gone through a couple tough weeks emotionally. I maqde it through and i am stronger for it. Today I called the Salvation Army and volunteered to serve Thanksgiving dinner to the shut -ins that they have on their list. I wanted to spend the day doing something positive and to keep busy also. I know that way i will eat less, feel positive about helping someone else and get in some exercise too.
I hope that I can make a difference for others as well as myself. I had planned on spending most of the day watching football with family and waiting on their needs. I told them they are welcome to join me and we can have a family day of it.
I will still fix dinner with my mom and children, I will just leave early to help and come back after 5 pm. I feel good about it already

The last few years we've cooked up a feast, transported the residents of our local homeless shelter to our church's fellowship hall, and served them a feast, then joined them in the meal and fellowship. This year they are doing something else so we'll have dinner with our extended family at home. My poor husband will be out on his ship for all of the holidays this year. God will bless him, I know. I love your plans. A giving heart is such a sign of health!!!

*hugs*

A Wonderful Idea!! Something I've always wanted to do, just haven't taken the time from family for it. It is most definitely on my bucket list...hopefully very soon, too :)
