Spay/Neuter your animals?..........It still made me sad :(

Tuesday, November 17, 2009

I know it is the right thing to do. BUT. My poor chihuahua was NOT happy.
He just turned 1 in september and his name is Tigger. We named him that because he loves to bounce like the tigger from POOH.

So I couldn't feed him anything last night or this morning so I know he is starving. I get him to the humane society this morning at 7:30 am. I have an appointment, But had to still be checked in outside and fill out the papers OUTSIDE. My girls were freezing , it is 50 degrees, and I had to hold tigger the entire time because he is growling at everything person and animal around. There are ALL kinds of animals. He thinks he is a bull mastiff i swear!

So after standing outside for dern near 30 minutes while my girls, 3 and 4, myself and tigger were shivering and teeth chattering, they started allowing me and all the other 50 people inside. Inside e3veryone is basically shoulder to shoulder, and animals are stating to get restless. So I am still holding tigger and he is still growling!

The nurse came around to sign off on our paperwork and tigger started getting angry with her. So she decides he needs a muzzle (for there safety of course). Tigger is the smallest animal in the room, including being compared to CATS!, and he is the only one misbehaving so far. I was completely embarrassed. So the people at the desk started calling numbers, ours was 23. So finally, they called our number, we head for the desk, my 4 yr old hands in the paperwork for me ( she had to hold it because i was trying to keep tigger in my arms)
and we start the registration process. Then the nurse walks up and tries to take tigger, NOT.!! So i had to try to place the muzzle on him all by myself and he wasn't having any part of it. After about 3 minutes I got it!!! By this time my hands are shaking and i am darn near tears, the nurse tries to take him again. NOT. he is still flopping around and growling. So I had to hand him off backwards and she carried him off, mid air arms stretched all the way out.
So I finish taking the paperwork from the desk lady, my girls are upset asking to go with tigger, and I am shaking trying to listen to the lady so I will know when to pick him up in the morning. All the way out to the van the girls were like " mommy why are we leaving tigger?"
"I dont wanna leave tigger" So sad.............

I am not completely sure, But, I honestly think he knew what was going to happen. Poor fella, I feel so bad but i know it is the responsible thing to do. I just needed to vent. Thanks for reading my sob story.

It would be interesting to know what Tigger was thinking. I know that with the over abundance of pets, it is great what you did. Our dogs have been neutered. It just seems like there are so many extra puppies, (or kittens) we need to find homes for all of them before we start making more. I love animals. I would love to have more. Right now there are 3 in the room with me. 2 dogs and a cockatiel. I am only about half-way watching it, but Animal Planets "The Most Extreme" is on TV. I would be impossible for me to have as many pets as I might like. emoticon
