AGHHH - Frustration

Monday, November 16, 2009

I have to say I'm feeling like I just can't do this. Two months in and I'm 5lbs down - that's it. Every day I'm consciously and purposefully tracking my food intake and water. My goal is to get 120 minutes of activity in every week...usually that happens in one long session - a long bike ride on the weekend - and multiple little sessions of stuff like a short walk, gardening, etc.

But it seems like every day I'm 200 cals over or 400 cals over. So I guess I've just been maintaining. Anyway, I think I'm tired now too, so that's not helping my mood. I've been reading lots of blogs and forums out there for some help and decided to post this myself. I know that giving up is not an option, but I feel like I'm just spinning my wheels. Help!!

I definitely DON'T hit my calorie range everyday :), but I try to average at least 5 out of 7 days a week. I give myself little mini challenges of a few days in a row staying within my calorie range. I started out with 7 day challenges, then a 10, and now I am on a 22 day challenge to Turkey Day, but I've already gone over a few days. That's okay. I set myself up with fitness, water, and calories everyday and then in the end I calculate what percentage of the time I hit all goals (not just calories) overall. It helps take the pressure off the eating.

If you really want to see a boost. Challenge yourself to a 3-4 day challenge of eating in calories and getting even a small amount of exercise daily. That scale will go down just enough to inspire you to try it again.

I think the key for me at first was to not look at it as an endless or drawn out journey. Also, celebrating every little success is important.

Eating more fiber? - Parte!
Resisted the fast food? - Parte!
Exercised 5 minutes over? - Woo hoo!

You are going to do it because you really want it. You just need to set yourself up for success!!! Good luck!

    Here is my 2 cents:

Review your calorie range and goals. Is it realistic? Personally, I felt better when I re-evaluated my range and goals and slowed down. It took the pressure off and made it easier.

Measure with something else besides the scale. A tape measure or tracking your body fat percentage may show you results long before the scale does.

Stay positive- I think my scale adds weight on days I am not.

Good luck, you can do it.

Hi Lady, Sounds to me you need a whole new outlook and a new program to work with. Take the pressure off your-self. Always go back to the basic's when trouble comes a calling! Get up and start a new routine--do things different. Also go look at the report's pages--see how much of "something" you are chewing on these days. Try walking "backward" instead of forward with your work-outs...Walk with a buddy. Just do things different and add a little more exercises to the plate. OR/ Don't eat for one day...I know they don't want you to do this. But sometimes it works- just to drop a pound to get me going again. And quit watching the scales for a few days... emoticon emoticon
