To Do Lists

Sunday, November 15, 2009

Well I go back to work tomorrow - I can feel the anxiety building - I have a lot to do by the end of November. But I will take on one task at a time; remembering not to multi-task too many things at once. To do lists are like that - they can be overwhelming if you let them but if you chew off lil bits and tackle one thing at a time, they can be manageable (or seem to be more manageable). I am definitely a To Do List person - I find the really help a lot.

It's kind of like weight loss - I took my journey 5 pounds at a time and I never ever looked further down the road. Having to lose 150 pounds was way too overwhelming and discouraging - chewing off 5 lbs at a time was perfect for me. I didn't even set my official goal weight with Weight Watchers until I was 3 weeks away from achieving it.

And this journey is definitely multitasking - learning to cook properly, learning to portion, learning to track, learning to move and learning to love - it was a lot to soak in. All the new experiences were definitely overwhelming. Looking back, I almost quit half way because I am not a social animal - when I was big nobody paid attention to me; I kind of blended into the walls. When I lost half of my weight all of the sudden people (even strangers) wanted to talk to me and actually looked me in the eye - it was pretty overwhelming because I didn't know how to react - I didn't know how to be social. It was pretty scary but I fought the fear. I got angry actually and I pushed passed that fear. I'm so glad that I did ;) My life sure has changed and for the better! I still struggle with the social aspect of it, but I am learning slowly.

Today I've got my breakfasts made for the week already - MommaGrizz Oatmeal. I'm planning out my lunches that I'll be taking and then making a trip to the grocery store. It's going to be light portable lunches this week - soups and salads. They make some great soups and half a can is perfect for a hearty hot lunch with a salad or bowl of fruit. The possibilities are endless.

Well I've got to run and keep working on that To Do List of mine. Have a wonderful Sunday!

Good for you -- I'm planner, too! I really liked that you took a huge goal and broke it into small bites! Your page is inspirational -- keep posting so we can learn from and with you!

I must be following your lead this morning because I have been doing the same. Meals are all planned and the groceries put away, including chopping all those veggies. You are my inspiration MG.
Hugs and sparkles

What a great idea. I think I will adopt your goal setting idea...a few pounds at a time. And maybe if I plan out my meals ahead a time I wouldn't be so tempted to get off track. Continued blessings. mary
