100 Push Ups?!

While reading others' blog entries the other day, one in particular caught my eye. It was a lady who was saying that she finally did one-armed push ups. I had to comment if only to say "wow" because even though I've been doing push ups for a year now, I can only do 7, maybe 8 regular ones. I can do 38 modified.

I do push ups a couple of times a week, but haven't really committed myself to progressing. Funny thing is, I REALLY, REALLY want to be able to do a lot of them. It's just a goal, like running was, that felt unreachable. I'm running now and it seems this is the next thing on a list of things I'm going to confront head on. Swimming may be next (ah!)

A blog lady recommended a website to me called One Hundred Push Ups. I signed up to log my progress and tomorrow will be my first day of my new goal of one completing one hundred push ups! I'm interested to know how my initial test comes out, but since I already pushed up (LOL) this morning, I'm going to wait until tomorrow to get a true read on where I stand before I hit Week 1.

    I attempted to follow the 100 pushup website at one time but somehow I got off track. On a good day I might be able to do 15. I would love to be able to do 100. And I would be happy if I could even do ONE pushup with 1 arm! Good luck to you!

    Doing the Push Ups consistently will eventually get your numbers up. Keep at it.

    I've been doing the One Hundred Pushup Program since about the beginning of the year. I would get up to week 3 and then something would happen which would prevent me from doing them consistently and have to start over again.

    Well, I've been at week 3 (doing regular pushups) for about 3 months. I am slowly modifing the reps to increase them up to those of week 4 because I wasn't able to do week 4 after completing week3 .

    Presently I am doing the following

    Week 3 Pushup What I'm presently doing
    22 24
    30 36
    20 22
    20 22
    28+ 32

    I've been doing the above for about 2 weeks.

    Next week I will increase my reps as follows:

    I usually do the pushups first thing in the morning, when I'm at my strongest.

    Very interesting. Let me know how it goes. I was in the Army and we were constantly doing pushups. Especially for your physical fitness tests. Now I do them 40 everyother day. Depending on the day or how I' m feeling, I'll do them inclined, declined, regular and modified.
