Now, THATS much better

Tuesday, November 10, 2009

So I took today off just because and therefore took advantage of the chance to run during a weekday when the streets aren’t so busy. It was great and the weather SUPERB with a breeze out of the east. Temps are at 59 with sunny skies. This was MUCH MUCH better for running over Sunday.

After much thought and asking questions of the multitudes of fellow Spark runners, I came to the conclusion that the reason my runs have been essentially falling apart lately is because…duh…I was going too fast. DUH! Sometimes I analyze things to the point of stupidity. Duh.

Today I got all gizwitchied up and headed out the door and started my 4:1 for 60 minutes or 10 intervals if you do the math. I felt really good and when my Polar would get up to icky (thanks, Mike) I would back off. Guess what? It worked! Who knew! Duh! I didn’t want to throttle any of my gizwitchies either like I did Sunday.

The moral of the story is today’s was much much better as I was fueled up, hydrated, slower and the temps were cooler. Most importantly, I was deliberately s.l.o.w.e.r. and I watched my heart rate. Hmmmm….there just may be something to be said there.

HRM is a life saver isn't it! It helped me feel great after my half marathon because I knew where I was comfortable running at instead of that feeling after the bix where I just wanted to die because I pushed too hard!

Great job! Way to run AND listen to yourself in the process!

Awesome job!!! I set mine on basic so I hear a beep when I get to MHR, I do run in the 90-99% range usually, but am not out of breath - so there I stay.

Nothing like having a nice solitary run and just ENJOYING it. It's easy to get into a habit of needing each run to MEAN something rather than letting your body decide for you, sometimes. :)

Isn't it great when you figure things out on your own!?

That is great, way to take care of yourself and grab a day off. And such good results from your run. Way to go! emoticon
