My Brother Has Been Diagnosed

Monday, November 09, 2009

Thank you all for your wishes for a good recovery for my brother. (last blog) He is doing better. Not 100% but he is MUCH better! ::knocks on wood::

The verdict: He has encephalitis caused by a sinus infection. Encephalitis is caused by another virus that travels to the brain and causes brain swelling when the infection is being faught, leading to sezuires, memory loss, vomitting, headache and some of the other things he was experiencing. He seems to be in a more jovial mood now, kidding and laughing, so I'm thinking the anti-biotics they have him on are really doing their job! Although encephalitis can cause coma paralysis and fatality, it is very rare and in most cases if it is caught early, the patient repairs very quickly. He seems to really be fighting it very well.
I am very reluctant to leave for my cruise and hoping nothing else arises while I am in the carribean and unable to get home! My father insisted I go and not worry that he will be fine. I hope he is right! So I am leaving, this thursday. (Nov 12)

I WILL BE BACK November 21st! I will try to check in before then. Try not to miss me too much!!!

Love you all

PS when I come back I will update my stats on FIWC challenge if I cant get to it before then and I will also be starting my website and my personal training certification!

What a relief to have a daignosis! Glad that he seems to be responding well to the meds.
