Reflections on the past week

Sunday, November 08, 2009

Overall I am happy with my week. I fell a little short on fitness minutes, but I burned more calories than my target range, so I feel pretty good about that. I have also managed to stay within my calorie range every day except one. What can I say...my husband Mark and I treated ourselves Friday to Five Guys Burgers and Fries. Mmmm it was so good, and it only put me over my high end by about a hundred calories. My sodium intake however has been off the charts bad. Going to try and be more mindful of that this week.

As I mentioned before, my husband was laid off. I am proud of him though, because he has been more focused on himself. He exercised 3 times last week! He and I hit the track at the local school yesterday and they also have a 3 flight set of stairs that we "ran" 4 times, in addition to the laps we did on the track. I ran more than he did, but like I told him, you are only competing against yourself and it is best to go at your own pace so that you don't over do it and then not want to do it again. When we got home, we took care of some outside chores and overall had a really productive day. We are both a little sore today, but in a good way.

We have really curbed our spending, taking lunch to work every day and cooking dinners at home has been a good thing (with the exception of all that sodium). I have been streaking for several months now on going meatless one day a week and eating fish one day a week. Chef Meg has a video on how to cook fish in parchment paper and that has been our new favorite way to prepare it. I am still struggling with "liking" fish, so I am proud that I have been eating it once a week for several months. I really should try to add another day in, but let's not get too crazy now lol.

Oh and my boss called me into her office on Thursday. I had sent her a request to go full time, or at least pick up more hours. She finally got back with me and the first thing she told me was that she loves the way I work and that I was great! That alone would have made my day, but she went on to say that she talked with the powers that be, and there may be a good chance that they will hire me full time! That would include some benfits that I don't get right now, and of course more money in my paycheck! We are going to be opening implant centers in Portland and Salt Lake City over the next month or so, and that would warrant hiring another full-timer. So fingers crossed that I get good news in the upcoming weeks. =)

Well, that about sums up my week, looking forward to another successful, low stress week and wishing all my spark friends the same.

You are doing great, Tanya!!!!! And here's hoping for the job, I hope you're able to get full-time plus bennies...that will definitely help while Mark is figuring out what he wants to do.

I agree with PP that it sounds like a great week. Good job on the workouts and food. A burger treat in moderation is a healthy thing. I wish you luck in your meatless one day/week endeavor. I eat meatless most of the time but know it is something many people have to work at. I hope you find recipes that you find delicious. Also I am sending you good vibes with going FT.

A great week, if you ask me! I'll be praying for that door to full-time to open for you. The timing couldn't be better.

Blessings
Michelle
