What have I found? A healthy lifestyle.
Through SparkPeople, I am finally able to make eating right and exercising regularly a part of my way of living, as opposed to a temporary weight loss plan. I am training my mind and body to accept - and appreciate - that this is how I will live from here on. Healthy eating and moderate exercise are becoming a habit and it feels good.
Because of the flexibility of this program, I am able to do this in a way that feels natural to me. Past weight loss programs I've tried had a one-size-fits-all approach or were geared toward the instant gratification of losing large amounts of weight within a short period of time. Here, I am able to set my own weight loss goal (half pound a week), and SparkPeople gives me a program tailored for that goal. And it is working better than expected. After 14 weeks, I have lost 12 pounds, I have more energy, I am never hungry, and I have not lost my motivation. My modest goals allow me to have occasional "bad" days when I stray from the program without feeling like I have completely fallen off the wagon. As Julia Child put it so well, "everything in moderation, including moderation."
And so I say Thank you SparkPeople for giving me hope of finally living a healthier life.
