Guerrilla Gardening Day Today

Saturday, November 07, 2009

6 am is definitely too early to get up on a Saturday morning and it is my first day of holidays, but I'm up, wide awake. The coffee is hot, the dogs are mostly calm so this is my ME time (unless I have to get up to chase Dudley to take something out of his mouth - lol). Puppies are so much like little children - everything goes in his mouth.

Today I am going to work on the yard. Mother Nature has given us a reprieve from snow - there still isn't any on the ground yet - so I may actually get to put my gardens to bed this year. I know I keep saying I'm going to do it and something else always pulls me in a different direction - but today I am going to complete this. There is no way I want to be pulling rotten leaves, etc from my gardens in the Spring. I did that this year - blech!

So my plan for today is to spend the majority of the day outside - cutting, digging and raking. Get lots of activity in - fresh air and hopefully some sunshine. Not sure what the forecast is going to be - it's minus 1 degree celcius right now but it's suppose to go up to 9. Perfect weather for guerrilla gardening.

I've been peaking at the scale and my weight has been slowly going down, which is a good sign. My official weigh-in is not until Nov 18 so I've some time to get back down before then. Food is definitely not going to be my priority this vacation - activity is! I will eat food for fuel but there are no celebrations nor activities that seem to revolve around food - which is a really really good thing.

Well I'm off to start my day - have a great Saturday my lovely Sparkfriends!

I think I just felt my fingers and toes freezing and falling off just reading about your weather! emoticon Here I am in Florida complaining when the temps drop below 60F! I'm such a wussy when it comes to cold. Cool--yes, cold--no. I was raised "up north" but never did acclimate to the cold. Have been in Florida almost 25 years and I do believe I was born to be a southern gal all along. LOL!

Have fun getting your garden in order! :)

Sounds like you have some good productive time planned and are well prepared for what lies before you. I am amazed at your energy and enthusiasm. Who woulda thunk it when you were at your largest self, huh? We aren't going back there tho, are we? So proud of what you've accomplished and how you have learned to live your life healthy!!emoticon

Hope you got to start tackling that garden today! We had a hard freeze on this morning, and it was definitely chilly -- thankfully, it's supposed to start warming up a bit.

WOW did you know you can b too busy sitting in a lazyboy with a computer on your lap! now remember he is retired so it wasnt work related. Yea some sarcasm here as the dog hair takes over!! LOL

Good for you. I have been raking leaves as they seem to pile up so quickly. I mulch them down and compost them. The raked pinestraw goes around trees and bushes for for winter root freeze prevention. The garden has been cleaned of all dead roots and stems. Cleaning tools and oiling them down is next on the agenda.

Peace, blessings and good gardening to you!

Sounds like the perfect weather, if the sun is shining where your working you will be warm enough I am sure. Yup, in those pictures on my blog that is a fawn. You have a wonderful gardening day and I hope Dudley doesn't help too much - LOL.
Hugs and sparkles

My garden needs some tucking in also. Our weather is perfect for it all weekend so maybe I will get some good physical activity out there.
