Today marks the last long run before the marathon, though I feel silly calling it a long run as it is only 11 miles. Have to say though, no matter how I do next Sunday, I am more than a little amazed with myself. When I started this year those 6 mile runs were my "longs" and now they're my average, I don't even think twice about running a half marathon, and the self-doubt doesn't kick in until we've past the 17 mile mark.
Probably the biggest lesson learned is that 26 miles is a LONG way! For my long runs my husband drops me off then drives down to the end point to wait for me with the dogs...it's a long drive down to that end point and that was just for the 20s!
The unexpected side of all this is I am looking forward to enjoying running again. It's not as though I am having a terrible time in training (but I could do without the injury), but there's something a lot more free in just running for the sake of running.
