Pray for Ft. Hood soldiers & familes

Thursday, November 05, 2009

I live near Ft. Hood. Over 50,000 people there.

Reports of multiple shootings there, in at least 3 different locations, multiple shooters, 20 injured, 7 dead. 1 suspect in custody, at least 2 that have evaded arrest.

No idea of any info about the shooters.

Ft. Hood is locked down.

So reminds me of the Luby shooting in Killeen, years ago, when I was working in Killeen.

So tragic for so many.

My son called me about it. He was due to teach a law enforcement class there and an FBI friend called him about it.

Currently on Fox news and CNN..

What a horrible thing to happen. We need peace at home as well as around the world. We need to respect the lives of people and all things on the earth. We are unique and should reflect it.

My thoughts and prayers are with all the families affected, and also for the families of all the soldiers killed in Afghanistan, it seems that every time you turn on the news there are bodies being brought home.

We were just getting ready to leave Ft. Jackson, Columbia SC when the news broke. The soldiers were called to attention and skirted away. The families were asked to go back to the ceremony site and wait. We didn't know what was going on. Then it was announced and we were told they were waiting for a decision whether they would also go to lockdown. Ten minutes later the graduating soldiers came in and told they were dismissed and could leave according to their orders.

I felt bad for other families who were there for family day prior to their soldier's Basic training graduation Friday.

All the way home from SC we prayed for the soldiers and civilians at Ft. Hood. This was horrible and I've read so much about this senseless act and how the soldiers are saying, they knew they would not be safe on their deployment, but they thought they would be safe on their own soil. God bless each and everyone of them, and their families.
