So here's a repeated behaviour that I'm grabbing by the throat and about to give a good shake...
I reach a goal - any goal that is health, fitness or weight related - and use it as an excuse to celebrate. But not the good, productive, healthy kind of celebrating. No, no... we're talking the sit on your butt, use any excuse to skip a workout and lounge in front of the telly eating leftover Halloween candy. Which, isn't so much a vague blanket statement as an exact description of the past 3 days.
SO. It has to stop. Last night we discussed my cancelling my gym membership (wait - hear me out - lol) because the only thing I use it for is to run on the treadmill when the weather is lousy. However - I am the QUEEN of coming up with excuses not to walk aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaall the way to the end of the street (seriously, I'm THAT bad. My gym is, literally, up the street). I will even 'bargain' with myself to avoid leaving the house again, once home from work (ie - I'll do a DVD workout instead - which, btw, I *do* actually follow through with... but I'd really rather be running. Often.)
So why with the cancelling of the gym membership, you ask (yes, in my arrogance, I'm assuming someone out there is reading this)? Well, I'll tell you. I'm going to stop wasting my monthy gym membership fees (not worth it when you only go once or twice a month to use a treadmill) and buy my own treadmill. Yep. Since I've proven to myself that I will workout at home... this seems the most proactive approach. Now, I've started shopping around (along with another friend who's done a LOT of research) and won't actually cancel my membership until a treadmill has been purchased. But I'm hoping to find one soon-ish.
Also - no. more. candy. I successfully manage to avoid it throughout the rest of the year (yep - even when its sitting right in front of me) but, for some reason, this year's Halloween treats have been proving too tempting. And I've caved. But no more. And tonight, this bum is being hauled through a workout, whether it wants to or not.
Onward!
