I'm glad you want to adopt a dog rather than buying from a pet store. Most if not all pet stores get their puppies from a puppy mill, and while you feel sorry for them in the store, it is just giving the puppy mills more money to breed more dogs. I volunteered at a shelter for 5 years and it is heart breaking the amount of dogs that people throw away. So hopefully if and when you decide to adopt, you go to your nearest shelter and adopt one from there!
