In the roller coaster of my weight life, I'm on a downhill turn. Hopefully the scale will continue that direction. I know a lot of people are anti-Atkins, so I probably shouldn't even admit it out loud (or whatever it is you do online) on SP, but that's what I'm following now. I think there's a lot of misconception about it. Basically, the first few weeks are different, but the maintenance phase is really not all that different from SP. Atkins is high on green veggies and water all the time. I don't think any diet is ever against those two things! There's more meat, cheese, eggs and less carbs to start with, but it really does help me in the long run. With Atkins, you have to quit all the junk food cold turkey and then later you can have a little. If I just told myself on a SP meal plan I could have a little, it would work for awhile, but then I'd move up and have a little more and a little more. And the fact that you basically have to start all over if you totally blow Atkins actually motivates me not to blow it. Different people work differently, and I know myself. I think what keeps me motivated with Atkins is that it really does help get rid of those cravings, rather than silence them for awhile and then give in to them later. That's my defense case, or part of it, anyway.
The best news, though, is that I'm seeing the weight come off and feeling easier in my jeans.
My husband, who is sometimes not long-term supportive of my diet efforts, has been pretty understanding about this time around. And that combined with feeling better about myself helps me act better towards him than I sometimes do. Maybe that's really the best news.
