Can I Get a Woo Hoo? (Or a “You’re crazy!”)
Okay, let me preface this blog in saying that I have always been terrified of hitting someone and hurting them (if they don’t deserve it) since I can remember. So when I’m at kick boxing, I always have a really hard time getting the power and confidence to really wail on the bag.
Last night, I finally did it. I finally “got angry” and kicked the bag so hard that I burst a blood vessel over my shin. Now, don’t get me wrong: it hurt! But the thing is that I finally was able to kick that bag with speed and power that I never thought I was mentally capable of.
Our coach is really a great motivator and he has a tendency to remind us that “meatball training leads to meatball bodies” and an ugly number on the scale. I hit my first weight loss plateau this week and when Jim mentioned the scale, that was it. I pushed as hard as I could and on my next set of kicks, that’s when it happened and the bruise started coming up like instantly. It’s all green and purple now, but of course, I was too proud of my wound to ice it.
I think I might have gone on a little much about my “super bruise”, so in OTHER news, I’m getting Wii Fit Plus tonight! My mom and I have decided that we weren’t going to just talk about it anymore. Our K-Mart right down the street has the entire thing for less than $100, so we’re splurging and going to get it as soon as she comes back up from riding the horses. I’m REALLY excited, but mostly because I can erase the monotony of 5K training with the interactive run feature available in WFP. I’ll let you know what I think of it later on in the week.
Hope everyone is doing well, losing weight, and keeping the Spark alive. I’m off to find food and a Wii Fit!
