I use to indulge in red wine during my work week. Nothing extreme, but a glass after dinner here and there (I'm not a fan of being intoxicated). After my good doctor told me my triglycerides were high, I stopped entirely. It's been over a month now, and I felt I had earned myself a drink. I also felt I deserved one for surviving one of the most hectic weeks at work ever. So I got home and found the only "drink" we have in the house, which turns out to be whiskey. It is a $50 bottle that hides way way in the back of our cupboard and has been there forever and ever.
Now, I'm not generally a fan of whiskey...but if you've never had a whiskey sour you're missing out! So I carefully measured out all the ingredients and calculated the damage on my nutrition page. 184 calories for one drink. That actually isn't too bad! I used cane sugar in it which somehow makes me feel less guilty about the whole thing. I almost broke my Magic Bullet while blending the thing, but I finished it and my tiny blender made it out alive.
So this is my "dessert" for the day! Maybe next time I earn a reward, I'll actually make sure we have wine in the house! I know that this isn't a healthy habit, but I'm thinking once in a blue moon won't damage anything, right?
