Temptations Coming Up!

Wednesday, November 04, 2009

I just got the menus for two of the bridge club's Christmas Meals. As club manager, I am required to attend all functions. A free meal helps the budget, but not the waistline. It so happens they have chosen two of my all time favorite meals. First up, lasagna with garlic toast and ceaser salad, a high carbohydrate, high fat meal if there ever was one. This is a luncheon meal, so I have the rest of the day to work it off lol. But its the supper that gets me going. Turkey with stuffing (I can't get enough stuffing, ever), potatoes, cranberry sauce, meatballs, perogies (I used to slurp up 24 of these in a meal -they are the authentic Ukrainian made ones, not store bought), cabbage rolls (Mom still makes these better than anyone), all of it home made, no stove top stuffing or canned cranberry here. Its going to be hard to stay under my recommended range here (unless I get to maintenance by then and can eat normal calories). I wonder if starving myself for a couple of days before would work lol.

Some very savory sounding dishes being served there. The festive time is going to be tough. Usually my binge would start on Halloween and "end" on New Year's Day. This year I am trying to plan and strategize ahead of time...definitely don't want to go down the same old road again. So now I am researching activities..carolling..non-food ways to celebrate the season. Good Luck with your Christmas meals..you will do great!

Hah! Don't you hate it when that happens? I'm looking at Thanksgiving Dinner with family, Christmas Dinner with family, and an anniversary dinner, all within a months time. It makes it soooooo tough.

I always try to remember what a Weight Watcher leader told me...about waste (you know..can't waste food...or not eat it if it's free). She said it is up to me to choose: WASTE or WAIST.
Good luck during the "eating season".
