Training for the Dec. 20th 10K has begun in full swing and it's kicking my ass!
Out of 4 runs I had meant to fit in last week, I only managed two! That's pretty pathetic. And I do need to start running outside at least once a week so that it's not a complete shock to my system moving from a climate-controlled gym to the freezing outdoors.
Winter in Canada is no joke, and this run is going to be held at the edges of Lake Ontario, where the wind is extra nasty thanks to the lake effect. I'd better start prepping now!
Today I went to the gym twice and did jogging intervals for half an hour each, running about 7K total. Not too shabby, if I say so myself!
All I've gotta do is keep on keepin' on, and continuing to push myself.
I've got a question for anyone who knows, though; I got a heart rate monitor that also estimates calorie burn, but it routinely tells me that I burn more calories than the treadmill says I do. Any idea why or how to adjust for that in my workout records? For now I've just been taking the average of both numbers and recording that.
Thanks for listening! Just 6 Weeks Away!
