Silver Comet Half Marathon

There is one thing I like to do and really almost comes effortlessly for me.....that is RUNNING!!!! I am not fast at it but I really like to run so for that I say I am a runner! Well, I am signed up to do a full...yes full marathon on 3/21/2010! Its the ING in Atlanta and I think this will be the only full I will do. So in preparation for it, I need to so some mileage work and what better way than to run with friends. As of Saturday 10/31/2009, the longest I had run was a slow 9 miles in 1 hr 30 mins..call it SLOW! But I still set out with my friends to run
(that is me and my friends Donna, Heidi and Greg).
The course was very doable but its one of those you loop around. At around mile 7 the first person looped us (I ran with Donna all the way). It rained all the way and so there were water paddles all over the place. I do not like running in the rain because I hate the feel of wet shoes and my toes getting soaked! Around mile 11 my body hit the wall. I was breathing fine, no aches, legs felt great but I just could not mentally run. So I walked like for 1 minute then continued running. Between miles 12 and 13, I hit the wall again and had to stop. At that point, Donna (this gal can run.....she just did a 5K in 21 mins!!!!) told me she is ok with a 2:15 time but the antenna lady should not beat us (yes people had costumes since it was halloween). So off we started running and attempted a sprint at the end but could not catch Donna. All in all the run was good and my time was 2:02. All finishes got a medal!!!
