My daughter was reading the final chapter of Helen Keller to me last night, which is a big accomplishment since she is only in second grade and a few short months ago could not read words more than three letters long. She and I have had some wonderful discussions on Helen and how once her world started opening she could not get enough of learning and seeing the world thru touch. There are so many quotes on the web pulled from Helen's life but the one that touched me the most was found in the final few pages of the last chapter, and I can not locate them on the internet, so to many they must not be as profound as they were to me. The simple sentence was this "life is made up of days" , wow! Maybe these words hit me because God wanted me to hear them with my heart and not my ears. Yesterday was one of those days where I felt like I wasn't giving my all to everyone, like I was short changing everyone in my life because they all needed something at once. You now how it goes, as soon as you walk in the door in the evening everyone wants to tell you about there day and you listen a little bit to everyone but not a lot to anyone. Well, this was one of those days. Then I hear "life is made up of days", was this Gods way of saying it is ok, because I get another chance tomorrow or was it because even when we fall down we get to get back up and try again? Either way I am grateful for one more day to spend time with my family and one more day to try again.
"Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities have crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day. You shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense. " - Ralph Waldo Emerson
