Well I was recently hit by the flu. Usually, when I get sick it's not too bad and I get over it fairly quickly. This time, this H1N1, hit me fairly hard. It all started with a family crisis (my sister-in-law going into the hospital and being in a life/death situation for days). I took a day off exercising to be with my brother in the hospital & support him & his wife. The next day I felt sick and it just got worse. By Monday I wanted to go to the doctor, something I rarely do, as I felt I had a respiratory infection (& maybe strep throat) that could benefit from medication(s). Well, after a LONG wait (everyone is sick), I found out I had H1N1 and was given Tamiflu. I did start to feel better quickly, but the chest discomfort and coughing have lasted over a week (and fatigue). I've never taken a week (11 days actually) off of exercising (b/c of being sick). Finally, I got back at it today, although it was very tough. I am glad I did and it started my day off better! Doesn't an early morning exercise session always do that? My day always goes better just b/c I exercise first thing! I eat better, feel "good" about myself & for doing something healthy, AND it's a relief to have that part done for the day! Well I just wanted to jot a few things about my recent derailment. I'm sure many of you have been/or are sick right now & know what I am saying. I wish you all well. Just make sure to get back in the action of exercise, as soon as you feel up to it. I personally think that the longer you go w/o doing it, the tougher it can be to get back at it. But of course, take off as long as you need, to make sure you are healthy again! Best of luck to everyone who reads this!!!
