One very strange week!

Friday, October 23, 2009

1. I have had Tummy problems
2. We had a fire.
3. Our dryer doesn't work
4. An important check is lost in the mail.
5. Flu Shots

I have had tummy problems all week. I think I am getting better and then something I eat sets it off again.

Tues night when I was on Spark people, DH called,"I have a fire out here" from the kitchen. I ran with my trusty water mug and then realized it was an electrical fire. There was a spark when he tried to turn on a circuit breaker that had cut off, it sparked and caught the dryer hose vent on fire. He told me to call 911, but I picked up a cloth, wet it and he was able to smother the fire.

After DS installed a new hose and I gladly turned the dryer on. It ran 30 seconds and tripped the fuse again. So I have clothes hanging around everywhere to dry.

Earlier, I wrote about our $127. lunch. It involved a speeding ticket. So DH wrote a check to the nearby town for his fine and it never arrived in the mail. Strange thing, we had an argument about taking it over and I said "don't be silly, that is 22 mi. through the same small town where you were speeding, just mail it". Oops, so much for that piece of advice. Now he has an additional late fee or a court appearance!

Well do we deserve something nice for a change. OK. My brother had sent us a check and we decided to go to lunch with it. Usually we hit the Bob Evans nearest us, but decided to go to the one in the other end of town. In passing the Sr. Center, we saw that they were giving flu shots. We had missed the first ones and our Dr. and Cardiologist were both out of the medicine. They didn't know where we could get one. (One phone call was this morning). So..had we not gone to the other end of town for lunch, we would not have had a flu shot this season.

So maybe four bads and one good is par for our lives. But I really feel it was one strange week! emoticon

Sorry about the tummy troubles! I know mine are when I have too much sodium. I really need to start using the nutrition tracker again!!!! SHAME ON ME!
That fire sounds scary - but you were calm and collected and dealt wonderfully with it!
How old is your dryer? Could be a short in the house wiring - you may want to have an electrician come in to check on it.
    DARN that $127 free lunch!
And great job on choosing a "further away" Bob Evans - EVERYTHING happens for a reason!

Jane, bless your heart - I know that these things do happen, but must they all happen at once? Did someone say "Murphy's Law"?

Irene, I would say that was poor timing - birthdays should not include bad news!

God bless you both and may this week see the rewards of "hanging in" brought to the forefront.

Oh what a week you've had Jane! You know what they say - you can only go "up" from here emoticon
But you got your flu shots so you had one good thing happen! This next week is gonna be a good one for you, I know it! Just take care of the tummy aches now.

And Irene, I've got a stepdaughter who does the very same thing, lol

What a week. Sounds like some of mine LOL. Got a letter from a step daughter in law and you would not believe all they have been through in the past several months but she waited until my birthday to tell me.
