Running 5K consistently

I had a great comeback from night shift. I had set a goal that I would run 1.5 miles, 1st day back, i ran 2.1 like i said in my last blog. Little did I know that this was not going to be my only surprise this week. a few days later I ran 4.5 miles. i was a little worn out after that and I was getting a little down on myself that maybe that was a fluke and i couldn't really do it again. This time I was only going to do 2.5 ( which is still huge for me) but once I finished that I made up my mind to keep going and went a full 5K and a little more - 3.25 miles. My time so far was 45 min which calculates to a mile in 13 min 45 sec appx and average speed of 4.3 mph. not bad for a big guy.

This was a big milestone since I stepped out by faith and made a commitment to my trainer to run the upcoming 5K - the Turkey Trot, on Thanksgiving Day. It is really comforting and confidence building to now know that I can do it on a consistent basis and that my success was not a fluke. Also today is another first. I weighed in at 325. With a starting weight of 385, this means that I have lost 60 lbs total. What feels even better that this is knowing that with another 36 session personal training package purchased, this is only the beginning of new frontiers and new barriers to break through. I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas.
