Detox and Dry brushing

Thursday, October 22, 2009

Ok as we all know, the skin is our largest organ. Did you also know it is our biggest EXCRETORY organ as well? That's right. When we sweat, our skin gets rid of impurities that get washed away when we take our showers/baths. See when we lose weight, all those toxins and crud that we ingested, get stored in...our...fat! Which is getting burnt off, releasing....stored toxins. See what I'm getting at? One sure fire way to get rid of all that crud, is to do an internal cleanse (Go look up a naturopath, I'm not gonna get into it because it involves poop, and lots of it! lol)
and another, which compliments the internal cleanse, is dry body brushing.

It sweeps away dead skin cells and other impurities off your skin so it can function properly. It also helps circulate the lymphatic system, the sewage system of your body so to speak, so it can more effectively cleanse your body of stored toxins to be released through..well you know lol.

Another benefit of dry body brushing is, it helps tone and firm the skin. If you are planning on losing a bunch of weight, then you'll probably be stuck with some loose skin. Dry brushing helps prevent that by exfoliating dead skin and stimulating newer cell growth, keeping it taught with fresh collagen and elastin (And moisturizing after a shower with a skin firming lotion helps tremendously as well)

Of course this all sounds like airy-Fairy hippy stuff, but hey, what do ya gotta lose? At least your skin will be softer! Here's a link to follow on the benefits of dry body brushing and how to do it properly

I use a loofah sponge all the time when I shower on my body...sometimes dry. I know this is gonna sound crazy but I also use the very fine side of a pumice stone...even on my face. When I do my face I just go over it lightly...just as good as doing the at home dermabrasion.
