What does your plate look like??

Tuesday, October 20, 2009

I was speaking with my banker this morning and mentioned that I am in college and running my day care as well...she stated that my plate was too full...

Have you ever replied to a statement, such as that one, and as you replied you just thought to yourself...hhhmmm...I hadn't even thought about it... until I answered... and actually heard my own reply, and low and behold... my reply was a positive reinforcement... that I think I needed to hear! My reply wasn't made in a defensive light, as she was just making polite conversation, (not being critical of me), it was just an honest answer, and I really liked how it resonated with my soul!!

So, being a bit analytical at times, I studied this concept under a magnifying glass (so to speak) and I am amazed by what realizations I came to...here is what I deduced, in a nutshell

1. an appetizer....what does it do for you? answer...stimulates. That should be an activity (I have a membership at the YMCA, but haven't been going!!

2. The main course.... meat & bread.... that would be church, or some way of feeding the spiritual being within me....I feel like I am meeting that need satisfactorily....

3. Vegetables....that would be my work, pleasant but sometimes a little hard to swallow. Most days very enjoyable..

....My schooling falls under this area too, as it is good for me, and honestly not too hard to swallow!! I actually enjoy learning and feeding my mind!!

4. Fruit.....this for me, is tantamount to shopping and going out to eat....doing things for me....

5. Dessert..... I would look at socialization as dessert... I am getting that need met, fairly well!!

6. Water....I would place that under my rest category...just because that is so essential!!

Now let me go a little into each category... 1. and 6. Definitely need some need some real improvement.... 2. I believe I could sometimes use a little more spiritual food, so I will think some more on that!!

Although everything can always be improved upon...I think 3, 4 and 5 are in adequate amounts (on my plate), most of the time. #5 I receive a lot of that need... right here at SPARKPEOPLE!!!

As I continued to visit with the bank lady, I heard myself saying that if my plate was too full with anything... it was with blessings!! She was thoughtfully quiet for a moment when I made that statement...which I saw as a quiet reflection, probably asking herself if that statement could be applied to her life...I don't think many folks look at life the way I do. To me things are either a blessing.... or not even necessary to my life!!

Just to sum it all up...my life is a pretty well rounded plate...and the areas where it needs some improvement, are just up to me, to put to use the things which are already available to me.

I have a years membership to the Y, and I am not busy on the evenings they have water exercises, Mon & Weds. I surely have water available to me...just haven't been drinking it as much as I was a couple of months ago!!

As far as more spiritual food, I have many choices there. I am involved with my team of CHRISTIAN friends, I pray all the time.... I go to church, but not every Sunday. I watch and listen to CHRISTIAN programming all the time!! Possibly I could read my BIBLE more often, and just be in closer union with GOD more often.

That is enough of my reflection for now! I find it interesting, that even tho, as humans we tend to complain sometimes, when I sit down to take an honest evaluation of my life...what do I really have to complain about???
