The unending saga of Janice's Journey to run!
I hopped on the treadmill, confident until the voice in my ipod informed me that the warm up was 4 or 5 minutes- I cannot remember because the next sentence told me that I would be running for 25 minutes. What? Me?
Oh yes me- oh yes I did this. I completed week 6 session 3 going 2.75 miles in 33.27 minutes. I took a tip from the beginning runner's team and slowed my pace. I had been running at 5.8mph. I went to 5.5mph and had a much better time of it. I am not going for speed- I just want to accomplish my 5k. I also felt as if I could have kept going after the workout ended. I have to remember that if I follow the program by odds of completing my goal increase. If I try to rush it and go unprepared I may not reach my goal and might get hurt in the interim.
I told my son about 30 times on the way home "can you believe it, I ran for 25 whole minutes?!?". At the start of time 31 he suggested that maybe it would be a good idea to let my Spark Friends know since it would be new information to all of them! LOL- he is a great and very patient kid. He even said that he'd start running again to get ready to run the 5k with me- he did cross country last year but is loving swimming now.
One other exciting thing today- though I can't really top the former couch potato running for 25 minutes straight without any stopping at all....
I am going to a halloween party. I don't go out. I decided that even if I don't have anyone to go with I'm going to go. Life does not stop because you can't get a date (I have plenty of experience with this one, believe me). For this party you are to come dressed up as an elegant wedding guest. I decided it would be fun to go to the thrift stores and get a prom gown and dress it up big time. It's literally been years since I really dressed up. I got stood up for the prom in high school and decided that this party will be my mini reinactment of the prom. I am on the I love Stephen King team- please don't let it be a "Carrie" moment! I found two dresses and purchased them both- guess how much------this is the kicker-----$3 each. I could not believe it! Found them at the Discovery Store (benefits the American Cancer Society). My sister asked how poofy the sleeves are- lol, believe it or not I think that both are really nice. I'm even thinking of taking pics and letting you decide which one to wear!
I would not be where I am now without the support of all of my Spark People. I thank each of you for your support and caring.
