Decision about H1N1

Tuesday, October 13, 2009

I've decided that I am going to get the vaccine for the H1N1 flu after being at a conference on it tonight. The benefits outweigh the risks all things considered. This flu is being classified like the pandemic of 1918 in which millions died worldwide. I need to stay healthy and not be down with the flu.

We were told that at my age, I am not at risk,, my daughter is though,, we get flu shot annually, and pneumonia shot every five years,, we both are asthmatic, I am diabetic,, so we are high risk,,
still on the fence about this one for me.. it si two injections, BUT I read on sparks health highlights that one injection worked just as well as two ..

I normally do not get flu shots but I am going to seek advise from my doc on this one.
Patricia will be waiting to hear how you do after your shot. I do not know anyone that has had it as of it.

I haven't made a decision one way or the other yet...I've had the regular flu shot in the past and probably will get that again...I work around people all the time so I'm exposed to any type of illness they bring in (and they sure do come in even if they, or their kids, are sick)...one of my friend's little girl is recovering from H1N1 right now, she's got a lot of health issues anyhow, but is recovering well, thank goodness. Definitely let us know how you tolerated the vaccine.

The reason so many people died in 1918 was because they did not have penicillin yet. People were dying of secondary infections of pneumonia. We have medications that will work against those secondary infections now. I think the drug companies are trying to make some fear money.

I don't know about it yet. My daughters both have to as health care professionals. I do have the seasonal flu vaccination scheduled for Friday.

Don't think I'm going to!! It is mandatory at work (health care professional), But really they are rushing this through!!I never get sick and I believe that I did have the swine flu in July Dr didn't want to test me or see me.Shooed out of the office. This is really a tough decision!! I get the flu shot all the time. Convince me that I need it.
