SO YOU HAD A BAD DAY.....

Well, I've had a BAD week - BAD, MY BAD!! But, now I'm all revved up after a whole weekend of a health seminar which included 5 doctors from all over the country, including South America. I just want to share one analogy that stuck me as relevant. I have so much more to share, but I have to digest it all first!

Imagine.....You are in a hurry. You are speeding. You run a red light. WeeOOO, WeeOOO, WeeOOO the siren is behind you. You get a ticket. You take off again. You are still in a hurry. You are still speeding. Are you going to run a red light again and get another ticket? Are you going to get tickets all day long?

Imagine your day...You have a healthy oatmeal breakfast. At break you take just half of a muffin. You top off a healthy lunch with a Snickers bar. Ok. You've blown your four letter word so you might as well have chocolate cake and B-B-Q ribs for dinner and start over tomorrow. (That pre-planned statement sets you up for failure.)

NO!! Before you run that 2nd red light, vow to slow down as much as possible and arrive at your destination safely. The same is true for eating patterns. We always say, "NEVER GIVE UP". Well, I'd like to add, never give up half way through a day! You have to make it to your goal, so correct your eating AS SOON AS YOU MAKE THE FIRST SLIP - DON'T GET ANOTHER TICKET! Your body is the one who will pay for that one!

    I agree, great analogy! Who wants to get all those speeding tickets and go to jail?---I don't! I spent too much time in that prison of emotional eating and weight gain guilt!

That's in the past, I'm sticking to clean eating and clean living! Thanks for sharing! You are doing great, girl! emoticon

    Thanks for all your great comments which made me re-read my blog.....I'm not trying to take credit for this original thought...It was a story at the conference and I wish you had heard it for yourself. It was visual in its telling by an accomplished speaker. But, I'll add....

IF YOU WANT TO SEE WHAT YOUR THOUGHTS WERE LIKE YESTERDAY, LOOK AT YOUR BODY TODAY!
IF YOU WANT TO SEE WHAT YOUR BODY WILL BE LIKE TOMORROW, LOOK AT YOUR THOUGHTS TODAY!

It is not about food, Girlfriends! It is a head thing totally!!

    What a great way to put it. I try to do that - just because I eat bad once doesn't mean I should give up. That is my old way of thinking but thanks to wonderful people like you I don't any longer.

    Great analogy! I never thought of it that way. I used to start over each week, then day, and now I start over at each meal. Everything I eat is a fresh start.
