This will be a blended blog on both days. Bear with me!
Saturday-went to coffee, open house at the grocery store for the new manager and
auction sale at the hardware store. We decided we didn't need to invest in anything I
would need to store in the basement. Only means I'd have to move it several times while
I am revamping. I did feel sorry for the owner. He basically gave everything away.
We opted to go home and do some inside projects. I washed curtains in the living room
on Friday night so I could concentrate on all the rest of the laundry Saturday. Only six
loads but that means clean sheets on the beds and easy sleeping later. At 1:30, little
grandson arrived and we babysat until 7:30. His sister joined us after dance class, about
4. He got to tag along to the farm for chores, go grocery shopping and was so good.
We had baked cod for supper which both the kids love.
After they left, it was time to make beds and tidy up the kitchen.
Sunday-usual routine. We had leftover cod for lunch with lettuce salad and baked potatoes.
We treated ourselves to a short nap, then out to the garden to dig the sweet potatoes,
Yukon golds and pull the beets and onions. It was so cold that the hour seemed twice as
long. The sweet potatoes-all 5 plants-yielded about 60 pounds of luscious potatoes. Some were huge, one weighing in at 5.8 pounds!
I cooked up some of the beets and froze them tonight after supper. I even made a new apple
dessert that turned out delicious. The dehydrator is running again with a new batch of apples
drying. Only two more boxes of apples to go.
That's been my weekend and now it is snowing again. Maybe 3 to 5 inches. So far it is melting
on the sidewalk so no shoveling until morning. Guess I know where I'll get my cardio tomorrow. I want to start working in the basement tomorrow so wish me luck.
Have a wonderful Columbus Day and a great week!
