Oct 10th - Walking in a Winter Wonderland???

Saturday, October 10, 2009

When I originally signed up for the Historic Riverfront 5K Run/Walk, I thought it was going to be soooo beautiful by the river with the leaves changing. As the date grew closer the weather forecast wasn't sounding so wonderful. A quick peek out the window this morning revealed snow on the ground. Yikes! How can this happen so early in October?

Thank goodness I had pre-registered for the event otherwise I would have backed out. I wanted that long sleeve T-shirt though so it was time to dig out the hat, mittens, scarf. My daughter and husband wanted to go too so we all bundled up.

The run/walk started and ended at Boom Island Park in Mpls.

Husband and daughter crossing bridge 1 of 3.

The dirt path and trees dusted with snow just looked so pretty. Had to snap a pic.

Turns out this walk was a great way to start our day. We enjoyed looking at the scenery and there were no slips on the icy sidewalk, Woo-Hoo! I'm thinking we will do this again next year. Although I'm hoping for temps warmer then the 26 degrees we had this morning.

Wow Max your walk sounded very refreshing! I think it's great that you carried on despite the cold, the snow and everything!
Congratulations and a big WooHoo to you and your DF!

Oooo snow, don't get much of that here, although it gets bitterly cold sometimes. I had a friend from Calgary actually tell me it was extremely cold here (what compared to Calgary???).

Nothing like a walk in the bracing cold, it makes you feel great and tingly when you are finished.
