HOW I'VE EMBRACED THE SPARK!

Tuesday, October 06, 2009

I started slowly with spark people. I was one of those who thought, well I'll follow the "rules" and I can certainly do it on my own. I didn't join a team for a while. Then I formed my own team.
After that I branched out and joined a couple of teams...left them, in search of more compatible to my age group, an finally found a couple of teams I have stuck with through this wonderful journey.
In almost two years I've not lost a huge amount of weight (approximately 15lbs), however I've gained many friends that I wouldn't trade for the world. I've gained the certainty that I WILL reach my goal and I gained the knowledge that going it alone is silly. I can...but how much more fun it is to get healthy with Sparkpeople.com and my new-found fellow SPARKLERS!! I lead the Volunteeers Who Care TEAM and just love the Anyone Over 70 Team for their caring support.!

Yes, we need each other. Just think 15 pounds would be a lot to be carrying around. Think how you will feel when you lose the next 15 pounds.

With the holidays over and extra lbs. added it is good to have friends to help you through the road to loosing weigh. I am glad you are feeling better Lee. Joining hands together as one family, we are sure to inspire each other to loose weight. We did it before and we can do it again. emoticon

I love our team that is really like a family that is always there when you need them. With this family you also learn about different things about each state and other countries. You are one of the most motivating and caring of our family members.

I too feel like we are a "group" and can help each other along the way, plus learning more about other people and their lives and where they live. I enjoy reading each of the daily posts from everyone.

I've been on a couple of groups that I really didn't feel like I fit in and everyone is so friendly here. It seems to take me awhile to get acquainted with people as I am rather a "loner" in a lot of ways.

And losing weight - well, I'll probably be working on that the rest of my life.. Bettyor

I guess we all have to find our own way. But unless we get involved, it is a very lonely road indeed!
